Millennials are the group that were born between 1981 and 1996, who are between the ages of 22 and 37. They are the generation that we older people see with earphones permanently in their ears and their eyes on their smart phones. We shake our our heads at their new ways and we tell them glorious stories of our youth when kids played in trees, built forts and knocked on a friend's door instead of texting them. All generations seem to think that their way was the best way and anything new is somehow less healthy, less wholesome or less nutritious. But we have to admit that the world is changing and new ideas are sometimes better ideas. Technology, although we hate to admit it, often makes our life easier and richer.

Cameron is 24 and he has heard his father talk about the days when people put on warm coats, played in the snow, threw snowballs and built a fire to roast marshmallows. He listened patiently to his father lamenting that kids don't go outside so much anymore and they are robbing themselves of a full life because of their reliance on electronics. And although Cameron is a thoroughly outdoorsy kind of guy who knows all about the benefits of hiking through the woods and paddling a canoe across a lake, he takes great pleasure in demonstrating the unexpected. He had quite a smirk on his face as he listened to his dad talking about how the outdoor activities just can't be enjoyed in the same way through televisions and smart phones. With technology, you miss out on things like roasting marshmallows on an open fire.

Quietly and a little smugly, Cameron got himself a wooden spoon, some tape, the TV converter and his phone. He set the television channel to a beautiful scene with an open fire blazing in a fireplace. Then he extended his phone on the wooden spoon towards the fire. He had done a google image search and found a toasting marshmallow. Watching all of this, Cameron's father realized that he had just been outsmarted by a millennial.
