Artificial Intelligence is advancing at an unprecedented speed, threatening to replace a vast majority of human jobs by 2045. Adam Dorr, Director of Research at the think tank RethinkX, draws from over 1,500 historical technological disruptions to explain how AI will rapidly outperform humans in speed, accuracy, and cost-efficiency across nearly every sector. He warns that white-collar jobs involving routine cognitive tasks are especially vulnerable, with Ford CEO Jim Farley predicting AI may replace up to half of all white-collar workers in the U.S.

Yet, not all jobs will disappear. Dorr highlights a small group of professions that rely on uniquely human traits—emotional depth, trust, moral judgment, and complex interpersonal connection. These include sports coaches, politicians, sex workers, and ethicists—roles where AI’s capabilities fall short.

AI pioneer Geoffrey Hinton adds that blue-collar jobs requiring hands-on skills like plumbing remain safer, while routine roles such as call center operators and paralegals face significant automation risk.

This video explores why these “strange jobs” will endure, what this means for society, and how we might prepare for an AI-driven future marked by both disruption and hopeful possibilities of “super-abundance.”
