Jobbie Nooner, dubbed the "Mardi Gras of the Midwest," is one of the world's largest boat parties, held annually on the last Friday of June around Gull Island in Lake St. Clair, Michigan, just north of Detroit. Starting in 1974 by auto workers known as "Jobbies" who skipped work at noon to party, it has grown into a massive celebration attracting 60,000 to 100,000 people with boats, beads, and a festive vibe. Held 5 miles offshore, the event features topless women trading for beads, jello shots, and a carefree atmosphere, with a second event, Jobbie Nooner Two, on the first Saturday after Labor Day. Known for its consensual fun and stunning lake setting, it’s a rite of passage for boaters, though safety concerns like drinking and boating persist. Get a glimpse of this cool and crazy annual event!
