Typhoon Wipha Makes Landfall in China After Battering Hong Kong; Vietnam on High Alert | N18G

Storms hit southern parts of the Chinese mainland on Monday (July 21), a day after Typhoon Wipha battered Hong Kong. Heavy rain lashed the cities of Yangjiang, Zhanjiang and Maoming in China's southern province Guangdong, triggering warnings of flash floods and landslides. On Sunday (July 20), Typhoon Wipha hit Hong Kong, felling trees, grounding flights and forcing nearly 280 people to take refuge in shelters. Typhoon Wipha is now expected to make a landfall in Vietnam on Tuesday (July 22), further complicating the search of people still missing after a tourist boat capsized during a thunderstorm in Halong Bay in northern Vietnam on Saturday (July 19).
