Assen Tour Diary – 8 Days to Go
Today I had a 2-hour Zone 2 ride and used the opportunity to recon two stages near Assen.
Stage 5 will be 6 laps of a 5.3 km loop with narrow roads running through the forest and even a stadium. The cobbles were wet and covered with dust and leaves, making it very slippery. Riders will need to be careful on race day.
Stage 1 is a criterium with 12 laps of 1.8 km. Tight roads and sharp turns will make it a fast and tactical race.
After training, I headed home for dinner and a walk with my family.
