Coastal areas are high-risk zones.

They're not only popular vacation spots, but also hotspots for plastic waste accumulation. Under the influence of sun, wind, and water, plastic breaks down into micro-particles that become airborne — entering the very air we breathe.

Recent scientific studies confirm that people living in coastal regions inhale and consume water containing microplastics.

These microscopic plastic particles can enter the bloodstream and reach the brain, where they have been linked to the development of neurodegenerative disorders.

Nanoplastics can damage the brain, DNA, and reproductive system. They also accelerate antibiotic resistance and worsen the global infectious disease crisis.

In this video, Dr. Egon Cholakian presents visual and scientific evidence showing how plastic from the shore becomes part of the human body.

The video is based on the report "Nanoplastics in the Biosphere: From Molecular Impact to Planetary Crisis", prepared by the international scientific team ALLATRA in cooperation with Bolivian universities and the Creative Society international project.
