On July 18, 2025, the European Union approved its 18th round of economic sanctions against Russia in response to renewed military aggression in Ukraine. This marks one of the most extensive sanction packages to date, targeting key sectors of Russia’s economy.

Key measures include:
🔻 Lowering the price cap on Russian crude oil from $60 to $47.6
🚢 Banning over 100 "shadow fleet" vessels from EU ports
💳 Disconnecting 22 Russian banks from the SWIFT financial system
🛢️ Blocking transactions through the Nord Stream pipeline

The EU aims to further weaken Russia’s ability to finance the war and increase pressure to end hostilities in Ukraine.
