US Announces Ceasefire Between Israel & Syria After Sectarian Clashes, Strikes |N18G

The US has brokered a ceasefire between Israel and Syria. US ambassador to Turkiye, Tom Barrack, announced an Ankara-backed ceasefire deal. The US envoy called upon the Druze, Bedouins, and Sunnis to put down their weapons. The ceasefire followed days of sectarian violence in Syria’s Sweida and Israeli strikes. Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa also declared an “immediate ceasefire” after fresh sectarian clashes broke out between the Druze and Bedouins in Sweida. The clashes continued despite a previous ceasefire announcement that led to the withdrawal of Syrian forces. Israel launched strikes on Syrian military targets, accusing the regime of targeting the Druze community. Israel struck military targets in the capital, Damascus and Sweida.
