Commentary - What is Religion - Pageau and Boghossian

In this second commentary video, Mark tackles an interesting conversation between Johnathan Pague and Peter Boghossian called, “What is religion?”
Peter Boghossian falls into a number of traps, none of which that seem deliberate.
Missing these traps can give people a sense of his arrogance without being able to identify exactly why that is.
In this video, Mark attempts to show you these traps and how, and why, Peter is simply being arrogant (not deliberately).
Although he admits his ignorance, he doesn't change his stance based on this. Instead he relies on other 'intellectuals' to do the heavy lifting.
This, combined with poor framing such as sneaky claims of authenticity, sneaky claims of leadership, swapping of terms and phrases, and just plain arrogance, makes spotting these traps difficult. People, however, get a deep sense of unease or anger while watching this conversation because they are picking up on these cues intuitively.

Please feel bad for Peter, it's clear he's struggling and caught up in something he doesn't understand believing he should understand it solely propositionally.

Definitions of Terms Used:

Binary Thinking - Putting the world in a frame where only two options are available (We do not live in such a world thus creating a Flat World) ex. people vote democrat or republican

Flat World - Disenchanting the world, reducing the whole or part of the world to something simple enough to be quickly described. ex. Corporations are do everything only for profit.

Emergence is Good - This is a starting axiom, much the opposite of 'being is good', it states that because things happen, all those things must be good. ex. Because we invented the Internet, we must not change it and just let it continue with little or no regulation.
