US Designates TRF, Lashkar Offshoot Behind Pahalgam Attack as Terrorist Outfit; India Reacts | N18G

The United States has designated The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Pakistani terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, as a terrorist organisation. The same group was responsible for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The US accorded the TRF as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT). The statement by the US noted that this action demonstrated the commitment of President Donald Trump's administration to countering terrorism, as well as his call for justice for the Pahalgam attack. Following this, India on Friday welcomed the US move and described it as "a strong affirmation of India–US counter-terrorism cooperation." External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar appreciated the efforts of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his department for designating the TRF as a terrorist organisation.
