*Yukwah Campground* is located within Willamette National Forest in Oregon. It is in a Bank/Row of Campgrounds and is adjacent to House Rock Campground, Trout Creek Campground & Fernview Group Campground (Links for Each Campground Review Below!). It is a beautiful swath of Rainforest Style Old Growth that gives off Olympic National Park vibes while being in the Mountains of Central Oregon. As far as the quality of the Campsites themselves - the crafters of Yukwah Campground made the design decision to create a Nature Trail that parallels South Santiam River in-between the Campsites and the River Shoreline - thus NONE of the Campsites are River Shoreline. The Nature Trail itself is beautiful and was crafted thoughtfully with informational signs and two world-class River Access Points to the Rocky Shoreline, and there is the BEAUTIFUL Yukwah Barrier Free Fishing Site Platform built with Accessibility in mind which I greatly appreciate and is the BEST VIEW of Yukwah Campground, however this design decision ultimately reduces the overall quality of the Campsites themselves as they are not up against the Feature of this Area - South Santiam River, and are all just essentially Forest Campsites. Thus my Review of the Campsites/Campground itself is that it is a very serviceable Base Camp to Hike/Explore the Area with several very high quality Hiking Trails nearby.....but I wouldn't recommend any specific Campsite and I would not consider Yukwah Campground to be a Destination Campground in itself. If you are looking to spend a significant amount of your time at your Campsite, I would look to nearby House Rock Campground or Trout Creek Campground as both have Campsites directly up against South Santiam River. *Yukwah Barrier Free Fishing Site Platform* is located in the heart of Yukwah Campground and is a Day Use Area. There is BBQ Station and information sign adjacent to a Trail that connects to the Campground Nature Trail down to the Fishing Platform. It is approximately 400 FT and a gentle, flat slope. The "Barrier Free" component is AWESOME - it was designed with Accessibility in mind which I greatly appreciate! *The Campground Nature Trail* parallels the South Santiam River Shoreline between the Campsites and the River. It has informational signs and several Access Points - one at the beginning of the Campground and several Campsites have their own Side Trails to connect up with the Campground Nature Trail. There are two main River Access Points with vast Rocky Shorelines of South Santiam River. If you decide to swim, practice situational awareness, use the buddy system, don't mix alcohol with swimming, and of course do so at your own risk!
