💥💥💥 2025.07.15 Maria: You’ve talked a lot about Pennsylvania’s role in driving the shale revolution and now the AI boom, especially, as you just mentioned, with the surge in energy demand and data center construction. Tell me about natural gas—what role does it play in this? You’ve said American petroleum companies are ready to power the country’s AI race. Beyond permitting, what else do they need to make that happen?

Mike Sommers: Natural gas will be the way we power the future. The days of talking about natural gas as a bridge fuel to some future fuel are gone. Natural gas is the future fuel— it’s how we’re going to power the future. One major step has already been accomplished with the passage of the “Big Beautiful Bill,” which provided tremendous access to American resources in the Gulf of Mexico, onshore federal lands, and in Alaska. But we also need regulatory reform. We need more opportunities to access American energy because that’s the key to winning the battle for AI dominance against Communist China. We’re already energy dominant; now it’s time for us to be AI dominant.
