Meet Oswald the Lucky Rabbit — one of animation’s earliest and most influential cartoon characters. Originally created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in 1927, Oswald starred in dozens of black-and-white animated shorts full of slapstick humor, surreal sight gags, and rubber-hose animation charm.

After Disney lost the rights to Oswald, the character continued under Walter Lantz Productions, gaining a makeover and speaking voice in later years. Oswald paved the way for Mickey Mouse and remains a true pioneer of animated comedy.
