Week 25 Readings of our 2025 Chronological Bible-in-a-Year Reading Challenge see us witness Jerusalem spared from destruction at the hands of the Assyrians, but then promised a future day where another world power, Babylon, will oversee their demise.

In this tutorial, Chad Mansbridge explains how the prophet Isaiah speaks to what will take place for Jerusalem beyond the threat of the Assyrian regime, to the time of her fall to Babylon and then her restoration after that! Somehow, this far-future restoration is linked to a new covenant, a new nation, a new king, a new Jerusalem and a new heavens and earth.

Our readings also cover the Minor Prophet Nahum, who predicts the fall of Assyria, and a few Psalms which speak to God's devotion to Jerusalem. A city which has mercifully been spared... for now, at least.
