Teen arrested in connection with Maine paddleboarder’s murder

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the killing of 48-year-old paddleboarder Sunshine Stewart in Union, Maine.

Stewart was found dead on July 2 near Crawford Pond, with the medical examiner ruling her death a homicide caused by strangulation and blunt force trauma.

The teen suspect, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody without incident and is being held at a juvenile facility.

The investigation remains active, and further details have not been disclosed, NBC News has reported.

Friends described Stewart as a resilient and loyal person with a background in carpentry and marine biology.
