“Only people who have lived through a genocide and felt it in their bones can truly understand what it means – the constant fear of death and loss, physical hunger and yearning to feel safe,” writes Asem Alnabih.

A husband, father, son and a municipal engineer, Alnabih is trying to survive the genocide while helping to keep some basic services operating for people in Gaza City.

He joins us to talk about the situation in Gaza, particularly the dire impact of a fuel shortage that is one of Israel’s most severe – yet least visible – means of collective punishment.

This is a segment from The Electronic Intifada's livestream on day 650 of the Gaza genocide. Ali Abunimah, Nora Barrows-Friedman and Jon Elmer were joined by Gaza municipality spokesperson Asem Alnabih, as well as EI associate editor David Cronin.
