We Built an LS Engine with Green Berets

We’ve never torn down an engine before… but here we are. Two former Green Berets diving into our FIRST LS engine teardown with no formal mechanic training – just YouTube, determination, and grit.

In this video, you’ll see:

The entire teardown process as we strip this 5.3 down to the short block

The tools we used (and what we wish we had)

The mistakes we made along the way

Tips we picked up for any first timer tearing down their own LS

💪 Why are we doing this?
Because you don’t need to be a certified mechanic to wrench on your own projects. If you’re willing to put in the work, learn, and turn some bolts, you can make it happen.

👉 Build Details:
Truck: 1996 Chevy C1500
Engine: 5.3 LS (First Teardown & Rebuild)
Future Plans: Turbo setup for drag & drive
