Weak But Willing is a two-reel comedy short from the transitional period between silent films and talkies. The story follows Dave Finkel, a mild-mannered husband who’s constantly interrupted every time he tries to sit down and eat—especially during a birthday celebration that spirals into chaos

Dave Finkel, a mild-mannered and constantly hungry man, comes home late and misses his own birthday dinner. His wife Claire and a couple of friends decide to cheer him up by taking him out for a wild night at a speakeasy. But poor Dave never quite gets to eat—his attempts are foiled by everything from nosy acquaintances to a flirtatious blonde (played in an early, uncredited role by Jean Harlow).
