Songbird's Flight

A love story
I wrote this for my wife Emily. It's not a song about us as you might think, rather a song about two lovers, forbidden love, young love, and son on. But I was thinking of her when I wrote it

[Verse]
A daughter danced in moon's soft glow
A son of earth with heart to show
Forbidden love their spirits knew
In shadowed woods their passion grew

[Verse 2]
Her father’s wrath like thunder roared
A cage of fear his hands had stored
They fled the night with steps so fleet
Two hearts as one with fate to meet

[Chorus]
Oh wings of love take flight so high
To endless skies where dreams don’t die
Two songbirds sing where none can bind
A melody of hearts entwined

[Bridge]
The erhu weeps their sorrowed tune
The zither hums beneath the moon
Their feathers brushed by morning dew
The world forgot what once they knew

[Verse 3]
In every dawn their voices soar
Through forest paths and ocean shore
No chains can hold what love has made
Two souls in song forever stayed

[Chorus]
Oh wings of love take flight so high
To endless skies where dreams don’t die
Two songbirds sing where none can bind
A melody of hearts entwined
