James Gunn Addresses BACKLASH Over Jor-El’s Character in Superman

James Gunn addresses the criticism his Superman film is getting over the creative decisions he made with Jor-El.

Many longtime Superman fans feel this characterization is a betrayal to who Jor-El is, but Gunns feels it is necessary to make some changes, but has justified it by pointing out it has been in the comics before. However, there is a reason why this angle for Jor-El in not in many comics because the audience presumably didn’t like it then. If the decision was popular, it would become the norm. So if James Gunn was looking through the Superman comics for ideas for his movie, he probably shouldn’t pull from something that was already rejected.
