How I Designed 3D-Printed Mods for My Vintage Toyota KE25

Unequivocally the number 1 thing people ask me about is design and 3D printing – and I’ve avoiding making videos like this for the longest time, for a number of reasons that I’ll detail in the video. But, you asked for it, you got it.

I've gone into much more detailed around the design process and my thoughts behind why I chose to do things the way I did for both the design and manufacture of the custom 3D-printed OEM+ dash insert in the KE25 corolla. It's also a little bit of a 3D print workshop - but there will be more to cover on materials and settings in the next video.

Another thing people say variations of is, why have a modified Toyota corolla coupe – ie. Why go to so much effort for what is basically a forklift engine. The answer which I also give variations of is:
Not every car has to be 1000hp. And not everyone has $100,000 to spend on their car. AND not everyone needs to see the 1,000,000th 1JZ swap – don’t be afraid to do things just because you want to give them a go.
When I worked in engineering vehicle modifications I regularly saw people who had built 500+hp street machines with hectic cams and race setups, that were disappointed in the driveability because they just wanted a “nice Sunday cruiser”.

Don’t like social media and random people (like me) tell you what to do with your car – just make sure you’re building something you actually want. Whether it’s a vintage corolla, 10th gen corolla build, grandmas camry, your hectic streeto driftcar, or your other automobile projects.

Anyway. the “unnecessary Toyota corolla turbo kit” ™ is well underway and the engine modifications are still coming. We’ve got rust repairs, carbon cleaning and other what I would call “car upgrade essentials” on the way too. This Toyota corolla suspension has already received a slight upgrade but there’s also more needed, as well as brakes, before we get too crazy with all of our 1.5L of power. We’re gonna need the opposite of what is basically a corolla lift kit in the front here, but that will mean changing out these suspension struts.

I also had someone mention something about the restauration car (sic) – the blue KE25 corolla in the background is getting something of a restoration, but perhaps I might call it a “reimagining”... I’ve always been on the fence about custom livery painting on cars, but I’ve got something that’s been in the back of my mind for ages that I want to try.
Doing these detailed videos has got me thinking about all the unnecessary things I could make, like anti lag systems… but maybe that’s a project for one of my other cars, and I have been thinking for the longest time about making some larger parts, like maybe making a mold via a 3D printed front lip.
