We Can Change The World If We Do It Nonviolently

I recorded a three part series of lectures by Father John Deer in March of 2018 at St. Joseph’s College in Standish Maine. This is the final lecture, “Joining The Global Movement of Nonviolence for Justice and Peace.”

Only nonviolent, peaceful resistance can change the world, from Jesus, to Gandhi, to Caesar Chavez, to Martin Luther King. It requires everyone to get involved, to take some action for Justice, Peace, and the Environment.

Father John Dear was dismissed from the Society of Jesus, the Jesuits, after 32 years with the Society. Here is what he said after refusing to return to the Jesuits, "After three years of discernment, "I'm leaving because the Society of Jesus in the U.S. has changed so much since I entered in 1982 and because my Jesuit superiors have tried so hard over the decades to stop my work for peace..."

When the entire blogosphere and main stream media overwhelm us with wars, violence, chaos, and lies, Fr. Dear offers a different approach to bringing about societal change. Part One of the series begins with Violence Towards Self, and Part Two deals with Violence Towards Others. I will post Parts One and Two over the following days.

I felt it of importance to begin with the third lecture, “Joining The Global Movement of Nonviolence” because of its relevance at this moment in history when so many are searching for answers to the overwhelming use of violence that has humanity on the brink of extinction.
