James Gunn Defends MASSIVE Superman Lore Break That Has Fans ANGRY!

James Gunn's Superman just had the best non-Holiday first Monday of 2025 at the Box Office. But it is now trailing Man of Steel without factoring inflation and the fall off could be even more extreme. No competition in the second weekend was not a luxury afforded to the previous Clark Kent, so perhaps this farm boy can make hay while the sunshines.

Word of mouth for this film has been positive, except this one lore breaking aspect. Kal-El's father, Jor-El, is normally depicted as nobel, wise and benevolent. This interpretation, played by Bradley Cooper, is not sending his last son to look after and guide Earth after Krypton is destroyed, but instead lord over and spread his seed far and wide. Krypton's Last Son is to start a hareem and repopulate the Kryptonian race, according to James Gunn and it's not going over well at all.
