Before Bugs, before Chaplin — there was Happy Hooligan.

Debuting in silent film shorts in the 1910s, Happy Hooligan was based on the hit comic strip by Frederick Burr Opper. This early animation/live-action hybrid featured a tin-can-hatted optimist constantly getting into — and cheerfully out of — trouble. A relic of pre-Hollywood gold.

🎞️ Release Year: Circa 1913
