YouTube is rolling out a major update to its monetization policies, effective July 15, 2025. The new rules aim to better detect and limit “inauthentic” content—specifically targeting mass-produced, AI-generated, or repetitive videos with minimal creative input. While the core eligibility requirements for the YouTube Partner Program stay the same, creators now need to ensure their content is truly original and authentic to remain eligible for monetization. Reaction and compilation videos aren’t banned, but they must include meaningful commentary or unique value from the creator. Tutorials, vlogs, and faceless channels using stock footage or AI voiceovers without personal transformation may risk demonetization. YouTube’s goal is to encourage creativity, originality, and genuine creator voices on the platform.
