Log hand rail for staircase, more porcupine damage

I made this log hand rail for the staircase out of an ash sapling that grows prolifically on the property. I noticed more damage on the cabin door from the porcupine. He managed to get up on the porch despite the hanging screens and without damaging them. I'm going to have to put pieces of plywood in spots to stop it from doing anymore damage. Sigh.
