Filmmaker Dixon McDowell explores the life of Horton Foote, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and Oscar-winning screenwriter behind To Kill a Mockingbird, Tender Mercies, The Trip to Bountiful, Baby, the Rain Must Fall, Tomorrow, 1918, On Valentine’s Day, Convicts, Of Mice and Men, and Main Street. His iconic plays include The Trip to Bountiful, The Chase, The Traveling Lady, The Young Man from Atlanta (Pulitzer), Dividing the Estate, and The Orphans’ Home Cycle. Launched in 1986, The Horton Foote Project remains unfinished after Foote’s 2009 passing. With 16mm footage now in 4K, McDowell needs funding for final interviews, B-roll, and editing to complete this tribute to a master of American storytelling.
