WELKER: “Senator let me ask and we will talk about the president’s legislation that passed, but in terms of tariffs you have seen the president make threats in the past and pull them back in some instances. Are you hoping that preisdent Trump reverses course and pulls back on the threat of 35% tariffs against Canada again one of Wyoming’s biggest trading partners?”

BARRASSO: “Well preisdent Trump continues to put America first, America jobs, America wages, American workers and this is what the Trump policy has been. When we use the tool and he is using it effectively, take a look at what happened the other night, numbers coming out from the Treasury Department. We ran a surplus, first time in eight years because of tariff revenue coming in. When you add that to what we have done with tax cuts and letting people keep more of their own money, it makes a difference in people’s lives. I am amazed people continue to underestimate preisdent Trump’s ability to negotiate good deals for America. He wants to get jobs back in this country, he wants to get wages up and he is very good at bringing people to the table, ranchers are happy, we are so dependent on China for so many things, just in Friday we had the secretary of energy come to Wyoming, where for the first time in 70 years we opened a rare elements my new. China has a stranglehold on those for those important minerals. We did one in Wyoming, we need those good paying jobs here and make sure we are no longer dependent on all the foreign policies around the country and around the world. These people hold us hostage.”
