The Forgotten 4th of July? Why Belfast Marches on the 12th!

Most people think the 12th of July is just about marching bands and bonfires. But there’s a deeper story behind it — one that stretches from the fields of the Boyne to the trenches of the Somme, and even across the Atlantic to America.

This video reflects on what the 12th truly means to many here in Ulster: faith, freedom, sacrifice, and identity.

📌 Note: Most of the footage shown is from the 1st of July 2025 Somme parade in Belfast, where we remember the brave men of the 36th (Ulster) Division — local volunteers who gave everything at the Battle of the Somme in 1916.

Their courage helps explain why the 12th of July still matters to so many today.

🎖️ This isn’t just about parades — it’s about people.
🇬🇧 It’s about what we’ve inherited… and what we stand for.

Watch to understand the heartbeat of a tradition still going strong.
