Buckaroo was originally designed by Julius Cooper and produced by Ideal in 1970. It’s a mechanical game of skill where players take turns stacking tools on “Roo” the moody mule’s back. If the weight gets to be too much, Roo will buck all of the tools off, and the player who got bucked loses. If there are more than two players, the remaining players reset the game and play again until only one winner remains. If any player manages to place the final remaining tool on Roo’s back without making him buck, they instantly win!

Since its original release, Buckaroo has been produced by multiple brands including Milton Bradley and currently Hasbro. The model for Roo has changed over the years, as well as the tools he comes with. In this video, we’ll take a detailed look at what changes have been made to the game since its original release.
