Let’s talk about Scrabble – the ultimate word game!

Scrabble was originally invented in 1931 by Alfred Butts, who first called it Lexiko, then Criss Cross Words. It wasn’t until 1948 that James Brunot acquired the rights and revised the game into what we now know as Scrabble. After a rough start, Scrabble finally hit the big time in 1952 when Macy’s put it on their shelves, and by 1953 it had become a household name!

Today, we’re taking a close look at a beautiful 1953 edition of Scrabble and comparing it to the 2021 Hasbro version. What’s changed? What stayed the same? And is the classic version still the best?
