I drove alone through McDowell County, the poorest area of America, for a full day. There, ghost towns have been left behind as a result of a thriving coal industry, and the minimum household income is less than $29,000 USD.

This is the America of the forgotten, where time seems to have stopped in many ways. The stories you will find here, however, are some of the most gripping I have ever told, anywhere in the world.
