In 1953, a new bridge was put into operation in Ashtarak, which for many years has played an irreplaceable role in connecting the right and left banks of the city. It serves not only the city itself but also the traffic heading towards Gyumri, Vanadzor, and Georgia. Locals quickly named it “Nor Kamurj” (New Bridge).

The bridge is a single-span arch structure that connects the two banks of the Kasagh River gorge at this section, which is about 30 meters deep.
