Trump breaks his silence on rift with Musk, says it all came down to rescinding the EV mandate.

When discussing the Big Beautiful Bill and its impact on the nation, President Trump opened up about the policy decision he says caused his fallout with Elon Musk.

“Stopping the EV mandate, which, you know, hurts Elon.”

“It's too bad.”

“But I told him long before he endorsed me, I said: you'll never be with me because I'm going to stop the mandate.”

“Because the mandate said everybody has to have an electric car within a few years and I said that's not going to happen because not everybody wants an electric car.”

“He said, you know what? As long as I'm as I'm on the same footing as everybody else.”

“I thought was a great statement, but it turned out not to be so because he was very upset about it.”
