The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Part Forty | "Old ghosts, deeper cuts, and one hell of a brew."

The Beast and I finally crossed blades. Brief violent. It didn’t end in death, but in revelation. Regis, my old friend, showed himself again... alive, or rather, undead. A higher vampire. And the Beast? His dear friend Dettlaff another of their kind, one with power I can’t afford to underestimate.

We didn’t have long to talk before a posse closed in. Regis vanished, but not without inviting me to his current haunt: a crypt in Mère-Lachaiselongue. Of course. Where else would a refined blood-drinker take up residence?

There, we laid out a plan to track Dettlaff down. Regis would brew a concoction called Resonance, and I would fetch the ingredients each rarer and nastier than the last. The first? Saliva from a spotted wight, of all things. Supposedly extinct. I found it nesting in an old estate, brewing its own grotesque stew. Rather than kill it, I waited... then swiped what I needed from its cauldron.

But the final component? Higher vampire blood under duress. Regis offered his own without hesitation. I watched my friend suffer to finish what we started. Once I drank the Resonance, the visions came: places, faces, memories not mine. A boy... a bootblack. Somehow, he holds the thread to Dettlaff.

Now I follow that lead toward danger, toward answers... and toward the truth behind Beauclair's bloody mystery.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the groundbreaking installment in CD PROJEKT RED’s acclaimed series following the legendary witcher, Geralt of Rivia. After multiple delays, the game was officially released on May 19, 2015, and made an immediate impact. Selling over 4 million copies in just two weeks, more than doubling the total sales of its predecessor, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.

Unlike the previous entries, The Witcher 3 takes place in a sprawling multi-region open world, offering over 100 hours of content across dynamic landscapes. Inspired by the scale of games like Skyrim but over 20% larger the developers aimed to refine the open-world experience by learning from industry benchmarks while addressing their shortcomings.

Powered by the cutting-edge REDengine 3, the game was built with extensive fan feedback in mind. As always, player choices carry weight, shaping the narrative in significant and sometimes unexpected ways. This is not just a sequel. It’s a full evolution of the Witcher saga.
