Bones Cry Mercy | Psalm 6 Blues Song

🎵 David didn’t just write Psalms—he bled them. Psalm 6 is a midnight cry from the edge of despair, a man crushed in body and soul, pleading with a holy God not to abandon him in wrath. “Bones Cry Mercy” is our blues-drenched journey through David’s lament—raw, honest, and soaked in tears. It speaks to anyone who's ever asked, "How long, Lord?" and waited in silence for an answer.

This song draws out the full prophetic tension of Psalm 6: grief under judgment, fear of divine absence, the weariness of long suffering—and the stunning twist of mercy. From groaning in the grave to rising in grace, the song walks through the valley where even bones beg for healing and the soul remembers the promises of God.

📖 Psalm 6 (WEB)
For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments, upon the eight-stringed lyre. A Psalm by David.

1 Yahweh, don’t rebuke me in your anger,
neither discipline me in your wrath.
2 Have mercy on me, Yahweh, for I am faint.
Yahweh, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
3 My soul is also in great anguish.
But you, Yahweh—how long?
4 Return, Yahweh. Deliver my soul,
and save me for your loving kindness’ sake.
5 For in death there is no memory of you.
In Sheol, who shall give you thanks?
6 I am weary with my groaning.
Every night I flood my bed.
I drench my couch with my tears.
7 My eye wastes away because of grief.
It grows old because of all my adversaries.
8 Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity,
for Yahweh has heard the voice of my weeping.
9 Yahweh has heard my supplication.
Yahweh accepts my prayer.
10 May all my enemies be ashamed and dismayed.
They shall turn back, they shall be disgraced suddenly.

🎶 Lyrics: “Bones Cry Mercy”

[Verse 1]
Don’t chastise me in your burning wrath,
I’m dust beneath your flame.
You see me limp through shadows cast—
No strength, no pride, no name.
My soul is torn, my bones are weak,
And still I wait while angels speak:
“How long, O Lord?”—the silence screams,
As night unravels all my dreams.

[Verse 2]
Have mercy, God who formed the stars,
Whose justice shakes the skies.
Not just my body, but my soul—
Is aching with goodbyes.
I’ve wept a river on my bed,
Each tear a prayer my lips left unsaid.
There’s no praise in the realm of death,
No psalms beneath a silent breath.

[Bridge]
The grave won’t sing, the dust won’t shout,
Sheol don’t hand your glory out.
But I remember covenant fire—
A love that lifts from sinking mire.
So I cry loud from deepest night,
And wait for mercy clothed in light.

[Verse 3]
My enemies gather, thinking I’m done,
But they’ve not seen what grace has begun.
The Judge of thunder heard my groan,
The King of Zion called me home.
He counts each tear, receives each word,
My shattered faith has still been heard.

[Outro - Prophetic Cry]
Depart, you workers of deceit!
The ground you walk is not your seat.
The Righteous One has heard my voice—
And in His justice, I rejoice.
What broke my bones now builds my song—
The weak are kept where saints belong.

[Final Echo]
Bones once shattered… now rise,
In the mercy of ancient skies.
