On June 9, 2025, at approximately 7:24 p.m., Howard County Police responded to a 911 call from a 26-year-old man in the 9200 block of Wilbur Court, Columbia, reporting he had been repeatedly stabbed by his brother, Micah Booker, 23. Two minutes later, Booker called 911 from the intersection of Oakland Mills Road and Carters Lane, stating he was armed.

A responding officer, Michael McKee, a two-year veteran, encountered Booker standing in the middle of Oakland Mills Road, wielding a large double-edged spear. Booker advanced toward McKee, refusing to drop the weapon despite commands. Multiple witnesses confirmed Booker approached the officer aggressively. McKee fired his weapon, fatally shooting Booker, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A spear was recovered nearby. The stabbing victim, Samuel Louie Booker IV, remained in critical condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
