Nintendo BRICKS Switch 2s to Kill the 2nd Hand Game Market

Some Nintendo Switch 2 owners are reporting their console is getting bricked after playing second hand games.

While some of these instances are a mistake that’s rectified by Nintendo support, the fact remains that Nintendo has the power to remotely destroy a person’s console if they’re doing something Nintendo doesn’t like. Nintendo claims these measures are designed to prevent piracy of cartridges that have been copied, but it also make people nervous towards buying games on the second hand market. This could be an intentional byproduct of Nintendo anti-piracy strategy in order to kill the second hand game market, which would explain why they have a habit of not lowering the price on older games.
