06.29.25 "Eventually ... But It Takes Time"

Students of ACIM like to focus in on how the world is rooted in separation and arose from the thought system of the ego. Staying with that is getting stuck on the problem and ignoring the answer. ACIM wants us to ask a simple question, "Do I want the problem, or do I want the answer?" (Tx.10.78) I want the answer, don't you?

If we want the answer then we have to stop focusing on the problem. Yes, separation and the manifestations of the ego are all around us. It's a "given." Now let it go. Look for the answers; look for the miracles. Look for the healings. They are all around us too, but we have to shift our focus. We have to stop choosing a sick, righteousness that only serves to reinforce the separation. We think we are "better or "above" the problem because we see it clearly. However seeing it clearly and staying stuck in it is still part of the problem. "The ego's plan is to have you see error clearly first and then overlook it. Yet how can you overlook what you have made real? By seeing it clearly, you have made it real and cannot overlook it." (Tx.9.12)

Now, today, we have established that we want the answer. God projected into the world dream of separation a solution to the problem. This was God's process: "So [God] thought, 'My Children sleep and must be awakened.'" (Tx.6.57) The opportunities to awaken are all about us all the time. We don't awaken by pretending they are not there. We awaken by seeing them and choosing them.

I actually believe the world is in a vibrant process of awakening right now. I see it more clearly than ever. Every day more and more people get "done" with the usual depressing world view and realize that there is another way to look at things. There always has been. "Pain thresholds can be high, but they are not limitless. Eventually everyone begins to recognize, however dimly, that there must be a better way. As this recognition becomes more firmly established, it becomes a perceptual turning-point." (Tx.2.48) For the first time in my adult life, I hear people talking like peace in the Middle East might actually be possible. That feels like a miracle to me.

Notice the word "eventually" in the previous ACIM quotation. It takes time; it is a process. It starts as a dim awareness and then it grows slowly. It doesn't happen in a flash all across the world at once. (Maybe the last stage does, but not at the moment.) As such, we have to celebrate the slow and steady progress. We have to see its reflection in the world and appreciate the healing that exists underneath the reflections, at the level mind.

The USA is finally taking artificial, petroleum based, food dyes out of our children's food supplies. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) declared in April that these petroleum based dyes have to be out of all USA foods by the end of 2026. Some individual states have their own legislation to stop these dyes sooner. "WooHoo!!" Our Froot Loops might not be as brightly colored anymore, but our children will hopefully be healthier. Sounds like a pretty good trade off. It should be noted that many European countries banned these artificial dyes years ago. In these countries Froot Loops uses natural fruit and vegetable based colorings. This small change was decades in the making. However ... eventually ... it starts with a dim awareness and then spreads. Not poisoning our children is a good place to start.
