06.22.25 "Stop Waiting"

Many ACIM students I interact with are waiting. They feel they are not quite ready yet to take on the healing mission ACIM instructs us to accept. They don't feel healed enough themselves yet. They are waiting for a future moment. I am reminded of the following Course teraching about healing. "You understand that you are healed when you give healing." (WkBk.159.2) The self healing that these students are waiting for isn't going to happen "first." We don't realize our own healing, and then extend healing to the world, to our brothers and sisters in need. Both of these things happen at the same time, and they always happen in a "now" moment.

Our own healing isn't complete until we extend healing to our brothers and sisters in Christ. Their healing IS our healing and vice versa. There is no reason to wait, and every reason to begin. "Why wait for Heaven? Those who seek the light are merely covering their eyes. The light is in them now. Enlightenment is but a recognition, not a change at all." (WkBk.188.1) Jesus talks of this on multiple occasions in ACIM. He talks about readiness and the importance of being ready and acting on that readiness. "The healer who relies on his own readiness is endangering his understanding. He is perfectly safe as long as he is completely unconcerned about his readiness but maintains a consistent trust in mine." (Tx.2.64) Let's us hear that teaching again – "completely unconcerned."

Ultimately, when Jesus tells us we are ready, then we ARE ready. If we find ourselves experiencing lack of faith then we can simply rest on the solid foundation that Jesus is doing the healing with us and Jesus is definitely ready. Jesus working with his disciples and encouraging them to teach and heal in spite of their perception of themselves as not ready yet, is portrayed wonderfully in the television series *The Chosen*. Ultimately the disciples have to learn to trust Jesus and not their own faulty perception of themselves. "The disciples were specifically told to be physicians of the Lord and to heal others. They were also told to heal themselves and were promised that I would never leave them or forsake them." (Tx.1.34)

In ACIM Jesus tells us we are all his disciples now. "I must found His church on you because you who accept me as a model are literally my disciples. Disciples are followers." (Tx.6.12) Let's be true disciples today, true followers of Jesus, and not give into our perceptions of not being ready. We are ready NOW, and the future doesn't exist.
