Ground of Aces – Best New Upcoming Strategy Game?! Demo First Look - Episode 2

Welcome back to Ground of Aces – Episode 2! We're wrapping up our blind playthrough of the demo for this highly anticipated World War II strategy game. If you missed Episode 1, I dove in completely blind, struggling through the mechanics, building my first runway, and trying to keep my crew alive. But in Episode 2, things really take off (pun intended).

From base building and resource management to prepping for air raids and deploying aircraft, Ground of Aces is shaping up to be one of the best new upcoming strategy games of 2025. This WW2 airbase simulator has been on my radar for over a year, and now that I’ve sunk hours into the demo, I can confidently say: it’s one of the most exciting indie releases I’ve played in a long time.

In this episode:

I finally start understanding the planting and harvesting system (sort of).

Built an anti-air gun, canning station, and herb dryer.

Survived multiple missions and air raids.

Got my first Spitfire airborne.

Witnessed an epic final attack as the demo came to a close.

🎮 Whether you’re a fan of military base builders like RimWorld, Going Medieval, or Prison Architect, this game brings its own unique flavor to the genre. The charming 2D art style, gritty survival elements, and satisfying micromanagement make it a must-watch and must-play.
