Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
So the Buddha here is reminding us that it's the present moment that matters. The past is gone. The future has not arrived yet. Why dwell on the past? Why anticipate or worry about the future? Be here now. This is what's important. This is where we are. And this is how, as the Buddha says, the heart is fully developed. We cannot develop the heart in the past or the future. We develop and work with it right now, right here in this moment. What a great reminder from the Buddha.
