Daytime Naps Linked to Memory | WION Podcast

A new study suggests that increased daytime napping among seniors may signal early cognitive decline or a heightened risk of Alzheimer’s. Conducted by researchers from the University of California, San Francisco, the study tracked over 1,000 participants with an average age of 81 for several years. The findings showed a link between longer nap durations and mild cognitive impairment. While naps themselves may not directly cause Alzheimer’s, researchers believe excessive daytime sleepiness could indicate accelerated aging or declining brain health. Early awareness might help in timely diagnosis and care.
