The Arrogance Nation of Thamud and Their Destruction"

Brothers, sisters, friends and elders Assalamu Alaikum, wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu, we are presenting the 93th episode of the Islamic informative video based on healing and events from the Holy Quran, and in this video we will describe,The Arrogance Nation of Thamud and Their Destruction"

The Story of Prophet Salih (AS) and the People of Thamud | A Divine Warning Ignored

Welcome to another powerful episode from our *Islamic History* series, where we explore the lives of the prophets and the rise and fall of ancient nations through the lens of the Qur’an. In this video, we bring you the incredible yet tragic story of **Prophet Salih (AS)** and the people of **Thamud**, as briefly but profoundly mentioned in **Surah Al-Anum (6:44–46).**

The people of Thamud were a prosperous and technologically advanced civilization who lived in carved mountain homes in the region of **Al-?ijr**, located between present-day **Saudi Arabia and Jordan**. They were known for their architectural marvels, strength, and material wealth. But like many civilizations blessed with abundance, their hearts became arrogant, and they turned away from the worship of **Allah (SWT)**, embracing idol worship and corruption.

In His infinite mercy, **Allah sent Prophet Salih (AS)** as a messenger to guide them back to the truth. He called on them to abandon their idols, return to monotheism, and live with righteousness and humility. But the leaders of Tham?d rejected him, accusing him of sorcery and madness, and mocking the idea that a human like them could be chosen by God.

To settle the matter, they demanded a sign—something miraculous that would prove Salih's prophethood. **Allah responded with a stunning miracle: a she-camel that emerged alive from a solid rock**, in full view of the people. This was no ordinary animal—it was a test, a symbol of Allah’s power, and a direct sign that His messenger spoke the truth.

Prophet Salih (AS) warned his people not to harm the she-camel. She was to be left to graze freely, and they were to respect the conditions Allah had set. But arrogance runs deep in those who reject the truth. Not only did they ignore the miracle, but they **plotted against the she-camel and killed her**, violating the very sign they had asked for.

This act of blatant rebellion marked the final straw. **The divine punishment came suddenly and without mercy**. The people of Tham?d were destroyed by a mighty blast or earthquake, leaving them lifeless in their very homes. Their civilization, once admired for its strength and engineering, was wiped out in an instant—leaving only ruins and a lesson for all who came after.

In **Surah Al-Anum**, verses 44–46, Allah reflects on this pattern of behavior:

“But when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every \[good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were \[then] in despair.” (6:44)**

The people of Tham?d were given every chance to repent. They were reminded again and again, blessed with prosperity and a living miracle—but they chose arrogance and rebellion. Allah allowed them to enjoy the dunya, even increasing their blessings for a time. But when they were least expecting it, **His punishment came swiftly**, and their story became a warning for all future generations.

*
“So the people that committed wrong were eliminated. And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds.” (6:45)**

This verse reminds us that justice will always prevail. No matter how powerful a nation or individual may seem, when they commit wrong, especially after being warned, **divine justice is inevitable**.

“Say, ‘Have you considered: if Allah should take away your hearing and your sight and set a seal upon your hearts, which deity other than Allah could bring them \[back] to you?’” (6:46)**

This final verse is a call to reflection. The faculties we use to perceive truth—our eyes, ears, and hearts—are all gifts from Allah. If they are taken away due to our persistent rejection of guidance, no one can restore them. It is a warning to all of us to stay humble, reflective, and obedient to divine truth.

The story of Prophet Salih (AS) and the people of Tham?d teaches us that **signs alone are not enough**—a sincere, humble heart is necessary to recognize and accept the truth. **Rejecting guidance, especially after witnessing clear signs, brings destruction—not just in the past, but even in our personal lives today.

With this, we ask for your permission until tomorrow and pray to Allah Almighty to grant us the ability to act on the Quran and Hadith, Amen
