‘Supplying Ukraine with weapons

‘Supplying Ukraine with weapons is not going to help them hold the front lines. It’s only going to hurt the US itself’ – Jennifer Kavanagh, senior fellow at Defence Priorities think tank.

‘The main problem Ukraine has right now is not a shortage of weapons, it’s a shortage of manpower. They simply don’t have enough personnel to hold the front lines, and they’re facing very high desertion rates. So more weapons are not going to solve the real problem Ukraine has at this point. Putin has made it clear to Trump that he has goals he intends to achieve, and he will continue to do so until he achieves them, pretty much regardless of what the West does. And I’m sure the rest of the world, Beijing, Iran and other US adversaries, would be happy to see us supplying our valuable and scarce ammunition to Ukraine, because it means the US has fewer resources to spend on conflicts in those areas.’
