DLO Live! Ep. 96 Why Riflescopes Break?

It is very common to hear someone say that they "ran a scope hard" or that "they have broken every scope they have ever used".
What does that really mean?
Given that this internet, what is true and what is just someone's fevered dream?
There is no voodoo to riflescopes. They are optomechancial devices. We know how they work. We know the failure modes.
This is not normally something I want to spend time on because this subject is field with so many old wife's tails superstitions and downright degenerate nonsense that I do not know where to start.
However, my distaste for pseudoscientific nonsense aside (looking at you, rifle drop tests), it is a subject worth covering.
Naturally, I do not want to tackle it alone, so my friend Scott Parks will join me for this one.
Scott worked at Vortex for quite a few years, so he has a lot of inside knowledge when it comes to how riflescope are build and how they are tested for durability.
He is currently employed at Geisselle.
He is a serious precision rifleman, so he has a very deep understanding of riflescopes from both user and manufacturer standpoint.
