Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith along with Orlando Police Homicide Detectives, Patrick Cavanaugh, Maxwell Persons, and Sergeant Pete Cadiz provided an update on the Grand Street Homicide, Officer Involved Shooting and Poppy Park Homicide.

“Six innocent lives were lost to gun violence in the city on Sunday. I want to thank every officer that responded to both tragic incidents and to the detectives who have been working nonstop to investigate these cases,” says Chief Eric Smith.

In our commitment to transparency to our community, Chief Smith released body worn camera video of the incident that took place outside a home on Grand Street where a suspect killed an innocent grandmother and 2 young children.

The suspect, Lacorvis Daley, is a four-time convicted felon. He was previously arrested for Domestic Violence as well as multiple other charges to include a conviction for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in 2010 resulting in a three-year prison sentence at Sumter Corrections Institution.

The officer-involved shooting of this case is being investigated by FDLE and it will then be handed over to the State Attorney’s office.

Regarding the Poppy Park Homicide, detectives believe we have everyone accounted for who were involved in the shooting. The two males that are deceased simultaneously shot at each other after an altercation which led to three innocent females being struck by the gunfire. One of the females is deceased, one remains in the hospital in stable condition, and one was released from the hospital. We believe an additional person was involved and he is cooperating with police.

This is still an active investigation. We are asking the public, if they have any information, photos, or videos to please contact the Orlando Police Department. You can also report a tip anonymously to Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
