There is a widespread belief that HIPAA protects medical privacy but, as nurse and health privacy advocate Twila Brase, of the Citizens' Council for Health Freedom notes, that’s completely false.

And the regulation actually allows 2.2 million entities to access individuals' medical records without consent.

Twila Brase explains to Jimmy that signing HIPAA forms is not legally required and is part of a broader deception that facilitates widespread data sharing. She highlights how electronic health records and state and national exchanges make personal health information accessible across the country, often without patients' knowledge.

Brase urges people to refuse to sign HIPAA forms when possible and advocates for stronger privacy laws at the state level to restore consent requirements.
