Psalm 124

“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side…” Today I stood alone, outside the walls of the church, surrounded by God’s creation, and read Psalm 124 aloud. As the wind moved through the trees and the birds sang in the distance, I was reminded that God’s presence isn’t limited to buildings—He is with us in the stillness, in the struggle, and in the sanctuary of nature.

This psalm is a powerful reminder that we are only here because God was on our side. Through dangers seen and unseen, through opposition and hardship, He has been our protector. Reading these words outdoors helped me feel the truth of David’s song even more deeply: if it weren’t for God’s mercy, grace, and defense, we wouldn’t have made it.

May this moment encourage someone else to pause, reflect, and remember that you are not alone. Whether in a crowd or in solitude, whether in a church pew or under the open sky—God is for us. Always.
