Dear Me: Repression

There’s this quote I came across that really stayed with me:

“You can close your eyes to the things you do not want to see,
but you cannot close your heart to the things you do not want to feel.”

It made me think about the quiet ways we repress our emotions — not by intention, but by habit.

Sometimes, we don’t even realize we’re doing it…
until it shows up as silence, fatigue, or that subtle tightness in the chest.
A skipped word in a conversation.
A held breath.
An ache that lingers a little too long.

My take:
Embracing my age, which is turning 50 in a few weeks.
The thought of it makes me uncomfortable… but what’s bothering me really is how it makes me feel physically.
I feel more tired than usual.
There are more aches and pains. Sleepless nights.
Which only means… I need to listen to my body more.
I’m changing my mindset — because maybe it’s not weakness.
Maybe it’s wisdom.

✨ Save this if it resonates. Or journal it. Or just feel it — no pressure to fix.
